Narita is often associated with eels, but in fact, there is also a hidden charm in “famous sushi restaurants” that have long been beloved by the locals. Naritasan Omotesando is dotted with unique sushi restaurants, from those where you can stop by on a whim to those where the craftsmanship of the chef shines through.
In this issue, we have picked out three stores that we recommend for those returning from a visit to the temple.
"Narita Edokko Sushi Kaiun Branch” to taste the presence of Edo-mae
First up is Narita Edokko Sushi, which welcomes you with its elegant Japanese-style appearance. It is a long-established restaurant that has been familiar to all generations, from tourists to local regulars.
There are two stores along the approach to the temple, the “Sando Main Store” and the “Kaiun Store,” with the “Sando Main Store” being more established and the “Kaiun Store” being relatively new, having relocated and opened at this location in 2023.
This time we visited the “Kaiun Branch”.
The first thing that catches the eye here are the nigiri (hand-formed sushi), each of which has an imposing presence. The fish is large and bold, but the flavor is delicate. The moment you put it in your mouth, you can feel the careful work that has gone into it.
The restaurant does not have the slightly intimidating “Edomae” atmosphere that one might imagine from the word “Edo-mae,” and its friendly atmosphere allows anyone to stop by. The friendly atmosphere is also an attractive feature of this restaurant, where anyone can drop in on a casual visit.

"Kaitenzushi Kankichi” - Easy ordering with a smartphone
Kaitenzushi Kankichi newly opened in 2024 along Omotesando. The fact that conveyor-belt sushi is now available in Omotesando makes it easy for inbound tourists to use the restaurant.
The “6-piece set” includes 6 pieces of sushi and miso soup. The reasonable price of 1,000 yen is also a great point. Moreover, you can order just one piece of sushi, so you can enjoy the lineup of your choice.
And most convenient of all, smartphone ordering is supported. You can order from your own smartphone, and the menu is available in multiple languages and with pictures. Even travelers who are worried about language barriers can order intuitively.
This is a casual place to stop by when you want a quick sushi experience in between sightseeing. It is a place you will want to keep in mind while exploring Narita as a modern-style conveyor-belt sushi restaurant without the formalities.

"Yamato Zushi", a chic sushi restaurant where you can enjoy sushi standing up.
Located near Keisei Narita Station, Yamato Zushi is a standing-style sushi restaurant. It is a small restaurant with only a counter, but once you pass through the noren (curtain), a chic and friendly sushi world opens up.
The tempo is different from that of conveyor-belt sushi. You can stand and enjoy the sushi that is quickly prepared in front of you. The cleanliness of the sushi is very comfortable and has a unique charm that allows you to feel satisfied even in a short period of time.
This time, I ordered the “Small Drink Set”.
Although it is a “stand-up” restaurant, don't underestimate it. You can taste the skill of the chef in each dish, which is sure to satisfy you to the fullest. It is also a chic way to enjoy a quick bite when you are a little hungry or before the train on your way home.

One of the interesting aspects of Omotesando is that each store you stop by will have a different flavor and atmosphere. Please try to find a consistent experience that will remain in the memory of your trip.
